Dr. Feng Gao is a professor of Medicine at Duke University. He graduated from Harbin Medical University in 1984. Dr. Gao has a long-standing interest in elucidating the origins and evolution of human and simian inmmunodeficiency viruses, in studying HIV/SIV gene function and pathogenesis, and in vaccine development from the evolutionary perspective. His current research focuses on genetic variation and evolution of HIV/SIV, drug-resistance, immune escape, viral fitness, maturation of broadly neutralizing antibodies, and vaccine development. He has published over 140 peer-review articles, including those in top tier journals like Nature, Science and Cell.
